A well designed & neat business card makes sense and many Rands too... Here are some factors to consider when designing a card
Factors Affecting Cost Quantity Printed: The more you print the cheaper the cost. Often doubling the quantity will not double the price. Sometimes the difference between 500 & 1000 cards is just 20%-30% more.
Number of Colours: The more the colours, the higher the cost. A poor design with more colours will look worse than a good design with few colours. We suggest you insist on a PANTONE 342 GREEN for our corporate NMC green. Raised print is costly, but looks great.
Type of Board: Talk to your printer about prices on various boards. We suggest WHITE IVORY or CHINA NATURAL EMBOSSED for a neat, professional look.
Details Phone numbers are essential and a physical address adds credibility. Don’t make the mistake of not using your full name and using just your initial.
Size Don’t go for the standard 90x50mm card. Go for a 85x50mm card. Fits better into most wallets.
Proof Insist that your printer gives you a proof (sample) before starting the print job for your approval.
Computer Cards The few cards that we have seen produced by our agents themselves on a PC look cheap and tacky. Just as a pen doesn’t make one an author neither does a PC make one a graphic designer!
Beware! Some printers look for shortcuts. If anything sounds too technical, show them this article.
