There is myth that people hate salespeople. The reality is that people hate incompetant salespeople. This episode happened to a chamber member not too long ago.
Recently I was in the market to buy a fax machine. Two companies, Mxx & Cxx were approached.
Company Mxx I asked the service technician who was on site to ask the sales rep to give me a call. A reminder and 3 weeks later, still NO response! A call to the company resulted in an unanswered call. (apparently the entire company was in a meeting). A subsequent call resulted in a promise of a quote the next day. Four days later, I called the rep asking for her fax. She claimed she had the info ready and would email it. While on the call I asked her some essential machine specs and the lady didn’t know her stuff! After much fumbling I got some lacklustre answers and not much of an explanation regarding her product versus the competition.
Company Cxx The rep called in unannounced and offered to service any Cxx products we may have. Good so far! Since he was at our door we asked him to quote on a fax. He promised to get back and did get back. However, he didn’t even have a business card! (On his return call, he realised he had quoted us the price on a lower specced machine.) A later call to his office, resulted in me speaking to his colleague as he was out. I was put on hold 4-5 times until I asked the lady if she was the receptionist! No, she wasn’t, was her reply. Apparently, everytime I asked her a question she put me on hold while she tried to research the answer. “It’s for your benefit of accurate information,” was her parting remarks.
TERRIBLE SERVICE from both companies and I still don’t have a fax machine!
