CURRENT SERVICES
- Training Seminars We conduct seminars on all aspects of business and legislation affecting business. Seminars on Islamic Finance, ethics and social responsibility are also conducted.
- Networking Events We host a number of functions where guests from business and government are invited to address members on topical issues. Members can meet, interact and ultimately enter into meaningful business relationships.
- Trade Delegations We co-ordinate local and international inbound and outbound trade delegations to create opportunities for our members.
- Newsletter and Digest A newsletter containing articles of interest, current topics, legislation affecting business, trade enquiries, information and advertisements is published on a regular basis.
- Muslim Business Directory A comprehensive directory of Muslim businesses and professionals countrywide is currently being prepared.
FUTURE SERVICES
- Research No formal data or statistics exist on the population and contribution to the economy of Muslims in South Africa. A survey will be undertaken to compile this data, which will assist in determining the status and requirements of the community.
- Lobby Group The Chamber will seek representation as a constituency on relevant local and national structures and will consult with a range of interest groups.
- Job Creation Opportunities Identification and promotion of job creation opportunities for un-employed and affected members of the community.
- Investment Vehicle A strategic vehicle to allow the Muslim community to invest in large-scale projects and privatization schemes to generate returns and economic empowerment.
- Arbitration To resolve business disputes between members as well as attend to complaints brought against members.
KEY PROJECTS
- Isizwe Self Help Project Assisting unemployed people from the disadvantaged communities to acquire skills and address unemployment.
- School Entrepreneurship Project Introducing the concept of entrepreneurship in schools through formal studies and competitions.
- Business Sense Business education program conducted on community Radio Station to reach as broad an audience as possible.
- Ummah Newspaper In conjunction with Al’Ansaar foundation to report on topical issues facing the community ranging from social issues, education, politics and business to news from around the world.
